Auckland Racing Club has recently appointed Margaret Germain as its Chief Financial Officer.

Formerly Finance Lead at Microsoft covering the Australia and New Zealand Public Sector, Margaret is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over twenty years’ experience. She has worked in a broad range of roles across finance, including strategic planning, financial management and system/process improvement – both locally and globally.

After her education at Auckland University, Margaret worked for Deloitte in both the Auckland and Melbourne offices. Since then she has spent time in Australia, the Netherlands and Korea for Microsoft. She now lives in Kaukapakapa, Auckland, with her husband and two children.

Paul Wilcox, CEO of Auckland Racing Club says Margaret’s wealth of commercial management experience is just what the Club needs as it looks at its long-term growth.

“In the last few years, we have seen a real resurgence in the passion New Zealanders have for racing. We have invested heavily in order to create the best possible experience for our competitors and customers – including $6million towards our brand-new stables last year,” says Paul.

“Margaret’s background in commercial management will bring a lot of value to the Club – helping us build a world-class facility that Kiwis can be proud of.”

Margaret says, “The racing industry is undergoing a lot of change, so it’s an interesting time to join the team. Luckily the depth of experience and passion for the industry at Auckland Racing Club is unmatched, and I’m looking forward to using my experience to bring new blood into the Club from a financial standpoint.”
