The Ned Prix de Fashion

The hunt for the country's best dressed racegoer is on

The culmination of New Zealand’s fashions in the field competitions, The Ned Prix de Fashion is the national final, bringing together the cream of the crop to crown the country’s most stylish racegoer.

Entry into The Ned Prix de Fashion 2026 is by pre-qualification, with entrants needing to win a qualifying competition in order to secure their spot in the final.

Qualifying events take place throughout the country, all culminating in a final pre-qualifying competition – the Fashion Qualifiers here at Ellerslie on Champions Day (7 March 2026). This gives some lucky contestants one last ‘wild card’ opportunity to secure their place in The Ned Prix de Fashion.

Those contestants then take to the runway in a bid to catch the eye of an expert panel of judges, whose job it is to whittle the field down to just five Grand Finalists and, ultimately, select the Supreme Winner.

2025’s edition marked 20 years of The Ned Prix de Fashion – a milestone moment fittingly won by Danni Alfeld (pictured), representing Canterbury Jockey Club.
