Congratulations to Danni Alfeld, representing Canterbury Jockey Club, for taking out the 20th edition of The Ned Prix de Fashion.
Held on Barfoot & Thompson Champions Day (8 March 2025), this winner-takes-all competition saw Danni walk away with a $16,000+ prize package courtesy of The Ned, SkyCity and Tan in the City as well as the coveted sash, a trophy and the national racewear title.
The culmination of New Zealand’s fashions in the field competitions, The Ned Prix de Fashion is the national final, bringing together the cream of the crop to crown the country’s most stylish racegoer.
Entry into The Ned Prix de Fashion 2025 was by pre-qualification, with entrants needing to win a qualifying competition in order to secure their spot in the final.
Qualifying events took place throughout the country, all culminating in a final pre-qualifying competition – the forEVER SOPHIE Permanent Jewellery Fashion Qualifiers here at Ellerslie on Barfoot & Thompson Champions Day (8 March 2025). This gave four lucky women one last ‘wild card’ opportunity to secure their place in The Ned Prix de Fashion and take home a $1,000 prize each.
Contestants then took to the runway in a bid to catch the eye of an expert panel of judges, whose job it was to whittle the field down to just five Grand Finalists and, ultimately, select the Supreme Winner.
This season also marked 20 years of The Ned Prix de Fashion – a milestone moment fittingly won by Danni Alfeld, representing Canterbury Jockey Club.
A familiar face on and off the track, club ambassador Carena West brings a wealth of experience and passion to the world of racewear.
As a Club ambassador and the 2019 Myer Fashions on the Field National Final winner at Flemington, Carena’s credentials in racing fashion are as impressive as her raceday ensembles. But her connection to racing goes beyond the runway. Carena is also a Club member, winning owner, and accomplished horse rider, making her a true all-rounder in the racing world.
Off track, Carena keeps her plate full by running a successful activewear label alongside her sister and being a mum to her gorgeous daughter. We also LOVE her equal parts talent, style and hilarity Insta account.
