The Ned Prix de Fashion

The hunt for the country's best dressed racegoer is on

The culmination of New Zealand’s fashions in the field competitions, The Ned Prix de Fashion is the national final, bringing together the cream of the crop to crown the country’s most stylish racegoer.

Entry into The Ned Prix de Fashion 2026 is by pre-qualification, with entrants needing to win a qualifying competition in order to secure their spot in the final.

Qualifying events take place throughout the country, all culminating in a final pre-qualifying competition – the Fashion Qualifiers here at Ellerslie on Champions Day (7 March 2026). This gives some lucky contestants one last ‘wild card’ opportunity to secure their place in The Ned Prix de Fashion.

Those contestants then take to the runway in a bid to catch the eye of an expert panel of judges, whose job it is to whittle the field down to just five Grand Finalists and, ultimately, select the Supreme Winner.

2025’s edition marked 20 years of The Ned Prix de Fashion – a milestone moment fittingly won by Danni Alfeld (pictured), representing Canterbury Jockey Club.

How it works

You must qualify to enter

To enter The Ned Prix de Fashion you must either win a prequalifying event that takes place at a racecourse in New Zealand over the 2025/26 season or...

For those who have not won a prequalifying competition, there is one final opportunity to enter on the day on 7 March at Ellerslie as part of the day's Fashion Qualifiers round.

Winner Takes All

From the Grand Finalists, points will again be awarded, with the overall top scorer announced as the Supreme Winner of The Ned Prix de Fashion 2026.

In 2025, that title went to Danni Alfeld, representing Canterbury Jockey Club, who took home the winner-takes-all prize package from The Ned, Tan In The City, and SkyCity Auckland - along with the bragging rights of being the country's national racewear titleholder for the year.
