Racewear competitions at Ellerslie have been running for over 65 years, with The Ned Fashions in the Field at the
SkyCity Boxing Day Races a racewear institution.
The competition carries extra prestige with our womenswear winner and runner-up each qualifying for
The Ned Prix de Fashion, New Zealand racing’s ultimate fashion contest, where they’ll represent Ellerslie
among the country’s best-dressed on 6 March 2027.

Entry into the competitions is free for all SkyCity Boxing Day Races racegoers aged 18yr+.

Sarah has been a part of Ellerslie’s racewear judging panels since 2017 and knows how to spot a winning look. With a career spanning television, photo shoots, red carpets, editorial and advertising campaigns and personal styling, she has built a reputation as a trusted expert in New Zealand fashion.
Soraya Gurney is a celebrated racewear fashion enthusiast with an impressive track record competing.
She has claimed multiple prestigious sashes, including the Boxing Day Races Fashions in the Field Womenswear title in 2018 and 2020, alongside a runner-up placing and millinery award in 2019. Known for her polished, chic style and eye for detail, Soraya combines creativity with a passion for individual expression, thoughtful styling and accessible fashion.
Her experience on the runway brings a discerning eye and genuine appreciation for the artistry of racewear to this year's judging panel.
