General Admission

Our general admission areas provide a relaxed, laid-back way for eventgoers to enjoy their afternoon and offer excellent viewing opportunities of the racetrack and associated areas.

When it comes time to race, you have the option of either enjoying exceptional views from the covered, outdoor seating in the Ellerslie Stand, getting as close as possible to the thunder of the track from the limited lawn space down below which neighbours the home straight or alternatively, make use of the plentiful lawn space located behind the Ellerslie Stand adjacent to the stabling complex.

​The Newmarket Room, located on the ground floor of the Ellerslie Stand, is open to the public and offers a range of tasty food & beverages to purchase as well as easy access to tote facilities. There are additional food trucks and bars located behind the Ellerslie Stand by the fashion lawn and children’s entertainment area.

​You’re welcome to bring along your own picnic food, unopened non-alcoholic beverages, as well as chairs & picnic rugs for use in our outdoor general admission areas. If you plan on parking in our infield carpark accessed via 16 Derby Downs Place, please note that there is a set of stairs leading into, and out of, the pedestrian underpass. If you require accessibility access you will need to be dropped off via 100 Ascot Avenue instead.

General admission also provides you with the option of walking around the public pathways within the stabling complex.

TAB Winning Post Bar: If you usually base yourself from the TAB Winning Post on racedays please note that this room is closed for a private Entain function on Barfoot & Thompson Champions Day with entry strictly via invitation.

Under 15s enjoy free general admission.

Senior citizen Gold Card rates apply at the gate on the day (50% off the advertised ‘on the day’ price). 

Birdcage Bash afterparty: All racegoers aged 18+ are welcome to the official on-site afterparty ft. Jax Jones however please note that intoxicated or disorderly persons will not be permitted or tolerated; entry is subject to capacity; drink limits will apply and a dress code applies.

Fashion competitions are based on the Fashion Lawn within the general admission precinct. Anyone with a general admission ticket can enter or watch these competitions. Entries close on the day at 12.45pm.  Entry Ts & Cs apply.
