Caci Pukekohe Style Stakes | Counties Cup Day 2025

Bragging rights and great prizes were up for the taking.

The Caci Pukekohe Style Stakes was MyRacehorse Counties Cup Day‘s on-course fashion competition that celebrated great racewear and the people who wear it.

In addition to the all-important sash and prizes that included a one-year package from Caci Pukekohe for our Best Dressed Woman, that person became the Auckland region’s first qualifier for The Ned Prix de Fashion 2026.

How It Worked

Enter on the day

Contestants entered on the day at the registration kiosk on the public lawn (by the fashion stage) between 11.30am - 1.15pm.

The competition was open to men and women (with the exception of the Caci Pukekohe Womenswear Award).

Take to the runway

All contestants had an opportunity to get up on stage and show the judges their style, then...

The Winners Are Announced

...got back on the runway where they were awarded points by the judges, with the highest scoring being declared our winners.

The Caci Pukekohe Womenswear Award carried extra prestige with the winner - Jana Hutton - earning a qualifying spot in The Ned Prix de Fashion at Ellerslie on 7 March 2026.

Meet The Judges

Carena West

Franklin local and club ambassador Carena West brings a wealth of experience and passion to the world of racewear.

As a Club ambassador and the 2019 Myer Fashions on the Field National Final winner at Flemington, Carena’s credentials in racing fashion are as impressive as her raceday ensembles. But her connection to racing goes beyond the runway. Carena is also a Club member, winning owner, and accomplished horse rider, making her a true all-rounder in the racing world.

Off track, Carena keeps her plate full by running a successful activewear label alongside her sister and being a mum to her gorgeous daughter and newborn son.

Matty McLean

A familiar face to Kiwi audiences, Matty McLean is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable broadcasters.

Away from the studio, he’s a passionate racegoer alongside partner and ATR Ambassador Ryan Teece.

A true advocate for celebrating creativity and confidence through fashion, Matty is known for his eye for detail and love of bold, expressive style. He’s excited to see individuality and elegance take centre stage in the Caci Pukekohe Style Stakes.

Immersed in the iconic Te Akau tangerine, Julia-Rose lives and breathes the racing world - and with it, a deep appreciation for racewear as an expression of personal style.

Now Te Akau’s Marketing Manager, she blends her creative eye with industry insight to help shape one of New Zealand racing’s most recognisable brands.

Immaculate on raceday and a regular at major carnivals both here and abroad, Julia-Rose has a clear understanding of what makes racewear feel modern, elevated and true to the wearer - whether it’s a bold statement or a subtle nod to tradition.
