This trackside location, that channels the laidback but chic feel of a Marlborough winery, is the hottest place to hang out and enjoy some pre-Christmas fun!

The Grove offers you the chance to enjoy a range of delicious beverages (included in your ticket price), food throughout the evening to graze upon, a resident DJ to keep the vibe just so…plus the sound of the track’s “thunder” as the horses race past you on their way to the riches of the winning post.  And we will even throw in a racebook so you can ‘track talk’ like a pro.

​There’ll be unreserved seating and cocktail style furniture (if you didn’t upgrade to the reserved table of 10) to keep you comfy all day long.

​All that’s left for you to do is find some friends keen to come and enjoy a taste of the high life at Barfoot & Thompson Twilight Summer Night!

  • A glass of wine on arrival
  • Five food drops throughout the evening especially designed by ATR Executive Chef Paul Barrett and prepared using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients
  • Beverage package until the start of the last race featuring selected still and sparkling wines, local & imported beers, RTDs & non-alcoholic beverages

  • As The Grove is a social precinct, seating is unreserved and available on a first-in, first-served basis if you haven’t elected to purchase a reserved table.

    • On-site parking is free and accessed through Derby Downs Place
    • All bars close shortly after the last race with the exception of the on-site afterparty
    • Auckland Thoroughbred Racing encourages responsible drinking and intoxicated persons will not be granted entry to Ellerslie Racecourse

    • Tickets are non-refundable and prices include GST. A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket will also apply upon purchase
