Witness Group 1 racing at Ellerslie this September
Proisir Plate Day – regarded as one of New Zealand’s most prestigious early-season racedays – made its debut at Ellerslie in 2025 under its brand-new name.
Despite the rain, a fantastic crowd turned out, and we sincerely thank everyone who braved the weather to support the day. We’re also grateful to the owners, trainers, and jockeys who chose to race their horses with us, helping to make the occasion so special.
A big congratulations went to all of our race winners, with special recognition to Te Akau Racing and the connections of Quintessa, who stormed home to capture the Group 1 $400,000 Proisir Plate (1400m).
We were proud to support Cancer Society NZ on the day and thank racegoers who rallied behind such an important cause.
And a huge thank you to Rich Hill Stud for their generous sponsorship of both the raceday and the Group 1 feature.
With your backing, Ellerslie once again showed why it remains the home of premier racing in Auckland – rain or shine.
Club ambassador Ryan Teece went behind-the-scenes at our recent morning gallops, chatting with Te Akau’s Reece Trumper, leading trainer Tony Pike, champion jockey Opie Bosson, and co-trainer Sarah Fahy in the lead-up to the first Group 1 raceday of New Zealand’s 2025/26 season.
