The season’s first Group 1 comes north for 2025

Witness Group 1 racing at Ellerslie this September

Proisir Plate Day – what has been regarded as one of New Zealand’s most prestigious early-season racedays – is moving north to Ellerslie from Hawke’s Bay for 2025 complete with a brand-new name. 

Join us on course to witness the first Group 1 of the season, with a quality line-up of horses looking to take out the Proisir Plate (1400m).

​We cater for all your food and beverage needs with delicious and hassle-free food options available on course or pack a picnic with your favourite treats (including any non-alcoholic, unopened drinks) to enjoy in any of our outdoor, public areas oncourse.

If you're bringing the younger family members, we've got their day sorted.

Free general admission will get you access to our bouncy castle and swingball sets which are free to use.

    • On-site parking is free and accessed through Derby Downs Place
    • All bars close shortly after the last race
    • Auckland Thoroughbred Racing encourages responsible drinking and intoxicated persons will not be granted entry to Ellerslie Racecourse
    • A dress code applies in hospitality areas. Please click here for more information
    • Tickets are non-refundable and prices include GST. A separate booking fee of $2.00 per ticket will also apply upon purchase
