Premium drinks, all-day grazing, and front-row energy – this is how you do Champions Day right.

The Grove is where racing meets social season. Set in a prime outdoor location right beside the track, it’s the go-to spot for groups looking to mix racing action with a little indulgence.

You’ll kick things off with a glass of Leefield Station Rosé on arrival and graze your way through the day with five rounds of food, all while enjoying a beverage package that keeps the good times flowing until the last race jumps.

With cocktail-style seating (and the option to upgrade to a reserved table of ten), The Grove is perfect for moving, mingling and soaking up the atmosphere – complete with a DJ and surprise drink activations along the way.

And when the last race is run? You can remain parked up in The Grove for post-race celebrations or you’re just steps from the official Birdcage Bash afterparty inside the raceday Birdcage – no taxi required.

  • A glass of Leefield Station Rosé on arrival to set the tone
  • Five curated food drops throughout the day, designed by ATR Executive Chef Paul Barrett and crafted using fresh, locally sourced ingredients

    • On-site parking is free and accessed through Derby Downs Place
    • Auckland Thoroughbred Racing encourages responsible drinking and intoxicated persons will not be granted entry to Ellerslie Racecourse
    • All bars close shortly after the last race with the exception of The Grove (Newmarket Lawn) and the Birdcage Bash afterparty (raceday Birdcage, ground level, Ascot Stand)
    • Entry into The Grove and the Birdcage Bash is free for racegoers after the last race; R18; Dress code applies; Entry subject to space, Intoxicated or disorderly persons not permitted or tolerated. Bar and event close time is at the discretion of management. Drink limits may apply
